Board of Directors
Ron Oberhelman
President/CEO
Ron is a former US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent with over 25 years of law enforcement experience and a respected law enforcement & military firearms and tactical instructor. Following his federal law enforcement career, Ron served seven years as Director of Training for Focused Conservation and earned certification in the Southern Africa Wildlife College Advanced Field Ranger Course, bringing elite tactical expertise to wildlife protection training. A leader in the development, design, and execution of training programs, he distills complex concepts into easily understood and compelling presentations and drills. As a former Weapons/Communications Sergeant and Sniper in the U.S. Army 7th Special Forces Group (Green Berets), Ron’s exceptional interpersonal skills and leadership philosophy are built on genuine understanding and profound respect for those he mentors.


Joe Kellams
Vice President/COO
Joe is a retired US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Special Agent with over 25 years of federal law enforcement experience, predominantly in international assignments including more than a decade in Africa and three years in the Middle East and Central Asia. Following his DEA career, he remained in Africa as a volunteer ranger trainer, applying his operational expertise to wildlife conservation. A former Infantryman with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Joe served as a Sniper Section Sergeant with multiple combat deployments. His extensive cross-cultural experience and proven ability to deliver effective training in resource-constrained environments make him exceptionally qualified for conservation security instruction.
Mona Peloquin
Secretary/Director
Mona Peloquin brings more than 20 years of experience in strategy, marketing and organizational transformation to her board service. She has a longstanding commitment to mission-driven work, with early career roles in the nonprofit sector—including work with a John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts affiliate focused on arts and inclusion, as well as regional education association and community foundation initiatives—and ongoing pro bono consulting through the Taproot Foundation, where she also served on the advisory board. Mona is currently a global marketing and communications leader with Accenture and previously led marketing there for CEO & Enterprise Strategy and Technology Strategy. She also spent several years in the tech, telecom and software sectors. Earlier in her career, she led client-facing consulting engagements at Booz Allen Hamilton in strategy, organizational effectiveness and change management, with additional work supporting national and regional nonprofits through the firm’s not-for-profit practice. Mona holds an MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and a BA through joint studies with Radcliffe College.


Jeff Sturdevant
Treasurer/Director
Jeff Sturdevant is the founder and coCIO of Dorian Road Capital Management (DRCM), a family office which he launched in 2015 after more than two decades on Wall Street. He was previously a Managing Director trading mortgage-backed securities at Mizuho Securities and Deutsche Bank and began his finance career at Citibank/Citigroup. He holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a BS in Business Economics and Finance from the University of South Carolina. Prior to his undergraduate studies Jeff served as an Engineer/Demolitions Sergeant in the U.S. Army 7th Special Forces Group (Green Berets).
